For the first secret...did I even spell that right? I'm so freaking tired I can barely concentrate on one thing...we have this confession of HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIR. If there is one style that I have been bombarded with over the past few weeks...months...days...its THIS. I don't even know if this crap has a specific name or whatever but damn it...I love it, I want it, but I can't have it for...VARIOUS reasons, reasons that shall remane with me since they are a little too personal but yes....I wish I had a hair cut like this.

Also, why YEEEES there is a picture of a humanized Rainbowdash in this picture somewhere. I've been seeing people draw her with the EXACT same style that I want that its been driving me insane. Furgh, maybe this should be a finals present to myself but at this point...I don't know.

And now for the second secret....I CAN NOT SPELL!

No, that's not it. Its THIS;

Why can't I just fucking go here? Its not even THAT far from Indy but no. Every time I get a chance to go there, something comes up to rip that chance away from me and, as expected, I HAAAAAAAAAAAATE it. HATE it SOOOOO much. I want to go to New York City to badly that I often worry that if I ever do get a chance to go, it will be too late or some other bullshit. The project I am working on for Capstone is SET in New York City and I can't even go. How fucking sad is that? Its gotten to a point where I would possibly allow myself to be thrown in a duffle bag and sit in a van and endure the trip up there just to see the sights. THAT'S how DESPERATE I am to at least get away and go somewhere I want to go to so badly.

Just...to see something new.

So yes, New York and new hair...I think this is pretty small compared to what a lot of people might share. :I

Sound easy enough....or is it?

Well, let's just say that everything began NORMAL.

So after we were out into groups, we had to decide what to do with our trash. For the most part, we chose things that looked cool; an old pot, a pizza book, some old computer parts and so on. With THESE things, we were supposed to come up with something unique and new, much like how trash was turned into art in the film that we saw.

So...what can we do with said parts?

YOU CAN DO THE FOLLOWING!

1. Mercilessly destroy the keyboard! (hardcore guitar riff in the background)
I mean, take the thing and just break it like there is no tomorrow. If there were such a thing as PETE (People for the Ethical Treatment of Electronics) they would have been on our asses in a second. Keys were flying everywhere, the entire thing cracked. By the time it was over and everyone had more or less stripped the entire thing, you would have gone' Keyboard? This was a keyboard?'

2. Take said parts from the broken keyboard and then try to put them back together.
Eh...yeah, this didn't work so well.

3. Construct a modem from a pizza box.
Remember back in the day when laptops were HUGE. What the fuck am I talking about, they're STILL huge. Bad example but imagine a keyboard the SIZE of a pizza box...and it could do EVERYTHING that even the most powerful computers on this planet could do and MORE!

Wait, why am I getting your hopes up? That could NEVER happen....

3. Need a screen? USE A LISENCE PLATE!
Now in 3,000 colors and a cool HOLOGRAPHIC image when you move your head back and forth!

4. A cardboard box from a generic brand of cereal makes for a wonderful earth-friendly monitor!
Except when that earth-friendly stuff doesn't fit into the damn computer. Um, how is a laptop supposed to work when the screen is smaller than the keypad? Um...hello? Anyone?

Add this together and you get one...weird looking device...or something.

:|

Getting all the randomness out of the way, there was a lesson in this and that was working on your toes. We were given all this trash but no real clue as to what to do with it. In life and in your career, you meet head on into things like this sometimes where the only thing you have IS your wits as well as your imagination.

For the last portion of my KIB project with Team Building I felt this way; so I have to make a poster....but I have no real idea HOW to. I think I suck at anything that's related to Adobe but I KNOW I have to use it. Its what my degree is going for and damn it, even if Adobe crashes every time my fingers go within an inch of the mouse, I couldn't let it beat me! So I took the info I was thrown, came up with some ideas...and with some help from Beth and my team members, I was able to create something from nothing and/or tidbits of stuff.

And this was the final result.

So if there is anything I picked up from the trash lesson, its this...you can create things out of random stuff, even if you think its useless. Granted, that stuff you make might not be able to FUNCTION perfectly, but you CAN make something.Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-86099990849631712562012-04-16T21:03:00.000-07:002012-04-16T21:03:16.717-07:00Extra CreditBy this point, I am EXHAUSTED. I am so tired of...EVERYTHING that I seriously don't know if I can last three more weeks...but I have to.

Anyway, my role in this newest project is to come up with a traditional media poster for our KIB project. I had some ideas....but they're just not getting there. I know this is supposed to be a mock up before the final draft but god damn does it suck, if only because I'm trying despertly not to do a flat vector for the poster. I wanted to do something more welcoming, soft, and earthy but the end results....just weren't that great. I did some pen experiments for the path and the hills but other than that, I can't get anything, if only because I can't think of anything cool to do with the PATH theme we're working with here.

Here's my attempt to get PAINTERLY with photoshop...and it sucks;

Like I said, it looks like crap and I'm going to try it again before I pass out...again...and again...and again.

Crap, I can't get this to work.
Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-62974185885529126222012-04-09T00:56:00.000-07:002012-04-09T00:56:50.946-07:00And finally, a real conclusion...So its been two weeks since I posted my fear assignment when I realised that I could have used something but....but then I realized that would have been WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too personal to share so in the end I am glad I did the entire 'I'm scared of posting this review thing!' idea I had.

Just to let you know, someone commented on it...but it was the only comment on. Nonetheless, there was some disccusion, yada-yada, but we did concluded that entire 'guy gets his head cut off on a roller coaster' thing was the most fucked up and BEST way to get readers into your series.

Too bad its been like....12 YEARS since that and the series is still going on. No shit, I have 40 VOLUMES of this crap in my room right now and the REAL number is 60. I am BEGGING that this man ends this crap because I can't take it anymore! ;3;

But anyway, there is still three final things to do to conclude this project and that is...ANSWERING MORE QUESTIONS! OF COURSE!

Discuss the experience/presentation from class which you responded to most strongly, be it yours or someone else's.

1. What was it and who did it?
Drawing on a person of course! Okay, this is horrible on my part but I felt that of all the presontations that I saw, this really was the one I responded to the most, if only to draw stupid crap on this poor girl. Okay, it wasn't stupid but let's say she had some guts to allow someone to draw on her.

Wait, not someONE. EVERYONE.

I don't know but there just has to be something said about a fear presentation in which someone actually allows others to WRITE ON THEM.

2. Why did you respond to it so strongly?
As I explained, mostly because of how we were given PERMISSION to basically make a human sketch pad and encouraged to do so. Also, I just wanted to see if I could make something that looked cute as well.

3. How does it impact how you see your own project?
Well, it made me realize that I could have done something other than a text project when I'm sure no one even read (yeah, Goggle alerts me to that so I know people haven't been paying attention to this shit.) All in all, though my project was different there was that same sense of getting your fears out of the way and seeing that it isn't as bad as you think. Granted, I only had to read something in front of people, not have others draw on me.

Pfft, I think my fear project was small potatoes compared to others but considering I lead an almost brain-numbingly uneventful life, it makes sense that my fear is stupid anyway.

I have to say that another fear I had is over though and that was the fear of not being able to complete this assignment.

DONE.

I know that out of everyone in the class, Beth might be the only person to read this but for those who do have a Blogstop account, PLEASE, PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE read this and comment. I know I sound like I am begging now but this is something I really want to see if people actually find interesting in the end.

So without further or do, here is the review;

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a little riddle for you guy. What would you get if you took Sherlock Holmes, regressed his age to that of a six year old, and then put him in a situation where he couldn’t tell the woman he loved how he really was out of fear of getting her and her family killed?
Why you would get Detective Conan of course!
For those who have never heard of this series, Detective Conan (Or as we here on the US side know it as Cased Closed) is a funny little manga; it’s the type of series that while it is widely known and popular in Japan, its popularity here in the US might not be as strong. Granted, there are people who have heard of this series but Conan just doesn’t seem to get as much love here as other VIZ titles. Everyone has seen Naurto, Luffy, and Ichigo but Conan….the poor li'l guy doesn’t seem to get any love.
Detective Conan (known by its Japanese title of Meitantei Conan) was first published by Gosho Aoyama in 1994 and since then, the fame of Conan continues to grow. So far, this series has spawned sixteen movies, twenty-one seasons of its animated series, and its volume count has reached seventy-five (with the US publication only up to forty-one) You might be asking yourself right now, ‘Okay, if the series has lasted THIS long, what in the world is it about?’ Well, have a seat and I will tell you.
Detective Conan is the tale of teen sleuth Shinichi Kudo (Jimmy Kudo in the English publication) who, for all his knowledge and skill, winds up getting himself in trouble when his hunger for mystery gets the better of him. After solving a crime of a man who was murdered at an amusement park, Shinichi decides to follow two shadowy figures in black whom, despite not being the culprits in the amusement park murder, still acted a bit odd to him. Little did he realize that in his actions of following them he would wind up being attacked by them and fed a mysterious poison. The Men in Black leave Shinichi to die but unknown to them, Shinichi has not died….but instead he has regressed in age back to his six year old self!
Apparently, being a child in this world sucks since no one believe little Shinichi’s story, despite all the evidence on him that shows he’s been horribly attacked but hey! Little kids always lie! He’s just LOST! He hasn’t been attacked at ALL, even if he has this huge gash on the back of his head and a possible concussion! It’s all just a fib from the overactive mind of a child! It’s FUNNY! Finding no help in the police, Shinichi runs back to his home where he finds the aid in his family friend Dr. Hiroshi Agasa (Hershel Agasa in the English dub) who tells Shinichi that due to the danger he has put himself in, it might be better to play along with everyone and pretend that he is in fact dead and take on a new moniker but what?
Gee, I wonder if his vast collection of books by SIR AUTHOR CONAN DOYLE and EDOGAWA RAMPO will play any part in this?
Shinichi takes the on the identity of Conan Edogawa just as his girlfriend Ran Mori (Rachel Moore in the English dub. Are you sensing a pattern here?) appears but unable to tell her the truth, Conan is now forced to play the part a child just as Dr. Agasa suggest that Conan live with Ran and her father, a bumbling PI by the name of Kogoro Mori (Richard Moore). Needless to say, with Conan around, business begins to pick up, no thanks to Conan using his gadgets (thanks in part to the work of our friendly, neighborhood Doc Agasa) to knock Kogoro out and use his voice to make it sound like he solved the crimes….
And you take this concept, and then repeat.
Sounds repetitive?
Well, yeah, I will admit that it is but the thing that will keep you coming back is just how twisted the cases can be. Right from the very start, the series jumps on a grisly case as the amusement park case involves a man getting DECAPITATED on the ride and it only gets bloodier from there. Needless to say, Detective Conan isn’t as ‘kiddy’ as its protagonist makes it out to be. If you’re not comfortable with bloody murders and a body count that continues to grow with each case, this is not the series for you but if you enjoy a series that pokes fun at many elements in the Sherlock Holmes series (as well as other famous detectives series from around the world) as well as adds intrigue to its own world, this is the series for you. As stated, you might bore of how repetitive some of the cases, especially those outside of the Black Organization, might get but there is something about how the cases start that keep you interested. Even if at first you might think ‘Aw come on! I’ve seen something like this before!’ you can’t stop reading; you’re so hooked that you HAVE to find out how the cases is resolved and the pay of is more often than not exciting and even on the lowest tier, silly that something like that could even be possible.
This is a series that definitely deserves much more loving, especially here in the US. Sure, Shinichi isn’t hurting for fame in his home country of Japan but the poor boy doesn’t seem to be getting the love he should here stateside, especially when you consider some of the cases that he and his friends find themselves in. This series isn’t about pirates with magical powers, ninjas with demons sealed inside of them, or even about kids using super-power skates to do things that would land normal people in ICU. This is just a story of a kid who finds himself being turned into an even younger kid and going through a lot of violent stuff, especially for a series that is drawn to look so harmless and comical.
All in all, this is definitely worth checking out.
No, of course not.
Here is the situation set before me; what is the thing that I fear the most? Well, in truth there are many things that I fear and trying to squash them into one journal entry would be....INSANE. So how do I combat that? Why by picking one of the most easiest of fears that I have, something I would like to call...
NOT BEING ABLE TO LIVE UP TO AN EXPECTATION TO A GROUP AND THE GIVEN TASK THAT HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED TO ME.
Wait, why is the title so long?
In truth, I was a llittle unsure about what to do for this project, especially when it came to a PHYSICAL artificat. I really didn't know what to create or to present since, well, what can I really create (aside from artwork of course) that FULLY explains how I feel about something like this? My fear, when it comes down to is, is the basic feeling of not being able to live up to a promise that I might have made or been assigned to that is linked to more people. This is something I always feel when assigned to groups for projects; am I pulling my weight and even if I turn things in, do the others think that its good enough?
How can I experiment with something like this, especially since a more important project that I had has been completed and is now in the process of being graded. I wasn't thinking at the time but I could have used that as an example for my experiment....
But then opportunity has come again.
I think this will probally be the most....OBSCURE of my experiments/creation for this class in terms of an assigment. We were asked to come up with an idea to explore are fear and basiclly how to overcome it but what can I use now? Thankfullly, I know have something.
This SAturday, I was hired to take part in the programming and planning of AnimeWorld Expo, a convention that is coming here to the Circle City in July and as such, I have been given a few assignments but once those assignments were laid to me (or better yet, once I began to think of those assignments after I had said yes to them) I began to have that old feeling of failure already, only because I was worried that my experience as compared to some of the others, many who have been working with the expo longer than I have, wouldn't match up. So what could I do?
WORK for one thing but how could I work? Will I just go with the flow or will I add in my own spice?
Well, for the sake of experiencing more with the expo and for the sake of seeing if my writing is all up to snuff, I will do for my experiment....a review.
Wait, a review?
Yes, I am going to let the entire class read and critique one of the assignments/reviews I have to do for the expo. By the time all of this is over, I have no idea how many will be under my belt but for my experiment, I want to see if my fear of not being able to pull my weight as well as my fear of not being COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL enough when it comes to getting people interested in stuff is all in my head.
Considering this will be a review, I will have to post this journal in two parts; the first being this journal with my plans (which I have already laid out), the second being the journal with the actual review on it, and the third with my conclusion. HOPEFULLY, people will read it (or should I just print it out?) and my point will be driven home, but for now, theses are the results that I am looking for;
1. The reader is informed on the series that I am reviewing.
2. The reader is ENTERTAINED by the review I have given them.
3. The reader is interested in reading, watching, and purchasing the series as well as all merchandise tied to it.
4. The reader actually READ what I had to write in the first place and doesn't just ignore it.
MAJOR PROPS FOR THOSE WHO ACTUALLY DO NUMBER 4! D8
My hypothesis is rather unclear at this time but if I were to guess ANYTHING, its that people will comment on whether or not they found what I did informative or not and they were interested not only in the article and the series but also going to the expo as well.
These are things I hope I can get through with an experiment like this and if I can do this.....hell, maybe I can try the same thing with some of my other writing that no one seems to give a shit about. :|
Get ready for part two because here it comes....Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-26373675601228928382012-03-19T10:52:00.000-07:002012-03-19T10:52:33.687-07:00Because my home services SUCKSAnd I want to show that I haven't been slacking off as much as it appears to be....
Has being sideways STUCK to me or has it been a waste of my time? These seem to be the questions thrown at me and thus, I MUST give my HONEST thoughts!
And well...
The class has been interesting, that's for sure but as far as the list goes;
*What are 3 things you remember from this class thus far?
I will admit that I like the interaction as well as the exchanges held here in class. This seems to be a class where one of the important goals is to get to know each other better as well as ourselves. Its the sort of thing that a lot of classes ATTEMPT to do but in the end, wind up being too shmaltzy or just plain talk down to the students. I really don't get a feeling like that here; things are just enjoyable, even if we have to watch things I don't always agree with.
*How has your experience in this class been different from your experiences in other classes? If it has not been different, explain what is similar to your other classes.
There isn't that entire 'odd fish out' experience that I have gotten from other classes, ESPECIALLY ONE WHICH AT THIS TIME WILL REMAIN NAMELESS (don't worry, it has nothing to do with IT or music so those classes are safe...) Even if the class is filled with different people, there is a sense of belonging and our different experiences actually bring us together rather than isolate us....this is complete 180o compared to another class which the more I go to, the more isolated I feel and it depresses me, mainly because there really is no reason I should feel that way. That class has the same 'sharing' concept as this in a way but at the same time, when we share in THAT class, it just leads to people showing how closeted they are as well clueless about the experiences of others. I know I shouldn't expect people to know EVERYTHING about EVERYONE but really, I have to draw the line somewhere and my line has been crossed like....three times thanks to that class.
Here, I guess our creativity is what bounds a lot of people together and even if you come from a different background, we are able to find similarities in ourselves. All in all, its just a better experience and I don't feel like I'm alone or weird unlike said OTHER class. Maybe its because that class IS isolated in a way sadly but whatever the reason, I just feel I get way more out of this when it comes to interaction with others.
*What would you like to get from the rest of this class?
An idea on where to go since graduation is coming up for me next year. I want to take away a sense of self-courage for one thing and this class does help bring that out a little but perhaps I'm expecting too much? I don't know, but I just want a feeling that I'm doing something right for a change.
And there you have it ladies and gents; Seeing Sideways from my view in a nutshell.Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-1276340908395123942012-03-04T22:27:00.000-08:002012-03-04T22:27:58.337-08:00Something out of something....Oh god my head hurts....but I must continue onwards! I have a lot of things I have to do!
For this assignment, we were supposed to turn something....into something else. What more can I really say other than 'THIS THING IS TOO BIG FOR ME TO CARRY AROUND WITH ME ALL DAY AND I DON'T HAVE A GUITAR CASE'
So excuse me for not bringing in my project directly so enjoy these pictures I have provided instead.
Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on the guiatar...that isn't!
What can I say about this other than I was bored. This USED to be my grandfather's old guitar, something he just left even before he died. He used to play it but even before he got sick, it was...OLD. The strings were rusted and couldn't carry a tune, the entire thing was dusty and more than likely, with all the things he had to do, he just left it....so when he had all his stuff over here, I was faced with something; how do I kill off some boredom when I have no idea what to do?
And then this came to me.
Its stupid but yeah, this is how you turn an instrument that can be used to create art into 'art'.
Bleh.
So yeah, last week we had some problems with our 'group interviews' only because there was more talk about what we liked and less about how we could work together to kick off this KIB project of ours.
See children, this is why speed dating SUCKS...or the concept built around it.
1. Why did class devolve into chaos???
It desolved into chaos?! I didn't see that at all! Honestly though, I think there was a little snag in the discussion but it came from two things. One, how we were interacting with each other. Given that we only had like a minuet or so, this really didn't give a lot of leyway for discussing ourselves AND the project. This is why speed-dating is shit; its not REAL interaction. Its just like reading a crappily done summary of a movie that someone copied and pasted from another source. It doesn't tell you anything and often times it leave you with tons of infromatiom missing because of how severly short it is. Two, perhaps we were thinking too deeply about how our own skills could benifit the project without knowing that much about the project. I know we still need to get info from this organization but come on; stuff like target audience info and other easy things should have been given from day one and...
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFuck, there I go again getting rage since something similar happened to me not too long ago but based on an entirly different and more stupid matter.What could you have done to keep that from happening?
2. What could you have done to keep that from happening?
Like I said, we needed more time to interact than 2 minuets. Perhaps a more involved group setting would have been the trick rather than some speed-dating type bullshit.
Okay, I will lay off speed-dating but still!
3.Regurgitating ideas you have read is all well and good, but if you cannot apply them, then what is the point?
NOTHING!
Yeah, there is no point but people do it because its an easy fix and lessens the work load they have to do. One suggestion I would make is applying some 'Seeing Sideways' tactics into it; ask a person to really express how they feel and look into the matter so they can get a better understanding of the idea and what they got from it. If they didn't get anything from it or felt differently about the subject in question, its still a good idea to ask why, at least to find out what can be done to find some sort of common ground or something.
4. What can you do to be more mindful of your team buidling decisions and how to actually implement the techniques we have been learning all semester?Well for one thing, knowing more about the project at hand works as not to cause distraction. If one has no idea what skills to apply or where to bring them up, everyone is left lost in the situation. What do we do? Where do we go?
5. Is always sticking with people you already know the best solution to forming a good team? Working with people you already know may be human nature and the easiest way to make sure you get a good grade on a project, but remember that you are being assessed in this course not only on the product you create but how you work with your team and apply the techniques we have been covering in class... Unlike other classes, the product in this class is secondary to the process of creating the product.Not really, especially since this can lead to a team having too many of one skill-set and too little of another which can lead to a rather bad imbalance of ideas and duties. Even though its FUN to work with people who have the same ideals and hobbies, its always important to look beyond that so you can see and meet other people who will strengthen your team. This way things are able to work and flow together and even if there are bumps along the way, there will always be that support there to iron out the problems and get everything back on track.
6. What did you learn about yourself and team building as a result of what happened in class today?I learned that I hate spee-You get the point.
No, I learned that I need to be a little bit more open but as I keep saying, I really can't learn that much about myself or anyone else when I don't have that much time to actually talk and get to know them.
7.How should the potential conflict that could erupt based on discussion todayt be handled in a way that allows for the best teams and personal satisfaction for all people?
I'm not good with solving conflicts considering I get...loud, but I think that if the group does have a few calm heads in the bunch, some action can be taken to calm things down and get things back into order.
8.Instead of just backing down and saying, "Whatever..." what might be a better way to incorporate and include all ideas and styles?
By listening of course! It sounds simple but listen does work wonders since it gives people a chance to bounce ideas off of each other. Doing things like this seem to solve problems a lot better than just simply saying whatever but yeah...it seems like we live in 'whatever' times since that's what EVERYONE seems to be doing!
Pst, whatever.
Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-70329850799466701842012-02-27T21:03:00.000-08:002012-02-27T21:03:09.593-08:00What did I take away?Well, what did I take away from THIS class?
Hmmm.
1. I should really finish all the Munny figures I have.
2. I'm sure the janitors will hate us now considering all the bubble residue around the room.
3. I wouldn't mind doing another totem assignment.
4. Beth has an...interesting collection.
5. I just noticed that we didn't have a break in class considering how fast it went.
Rrr, I'm feeling an art block coming on again!
Oh who am I kidding, I always put things off...but as far as creativity and trying to further it goes, allow me to present to you....
KAHUNA! MUNNY FORM!
For those that don't know what Munnies are, I'll give you a short history; Munnies are a product of Kid Robot and are more or less blank, vinly figures that you can customize into whatever the hell you want. The first in this line were Dunnies, little rabbit figures what a lot of popular artist would make designs for and then sell them but these don't come in blanks but you can fine blanks that have been stripped of their paint which can be used for personal customization. Munnies were made in response to people wanting their own blanks and like Dunnies have an animal design to them, in this case the Munny looks like a monkey with a little nub tail. Over the years, other animals have been added such as Trikkey, a cat, Raffy, a giraff and other animals that resemble hippos, a snake/slug with arms, a crocodile and of late a rat/mouse with spiked hair. Munnies themselves come in three size; minis which are about four inches tall, standard which are about 7 inches tall and the GIANT Munny which is 18 inches tall. I've worked with Munnies before but I usually don't display them that often but since the introduction of many of the new characters, there were some opportunities for me to make Munny figures of my characters.
Now, had I gone the MINI Munny route, all of them would have been the same size; this would have been cool but it defeated the purpose since some of my characters are really big. When I found out that stores were now carrying the standard size Munnies, I hoped on the chance to make some of my larger characters and for the first test, I wanted to do Kahuna but Kahuna is nothing without his wife Saimon so along with the standard, I bought a Mini so I could make a figure of her as well. This is still being worked on but for the time being I thought I would paint and finish drawing the basic outlines for Kahuna's designs. I should be happy though, I finally finished the head and while looking back, I SHOULD have drawn his hair a little better, I think this is a good start. The thing I know will bring me the biggest headache are his horns and tail.
Oh, didn't I mention that? Like the sticker of the tiger I showed off last week, Huni here is part of my story arch that involves characters that are based off the Chinese zodiac. Huni is the ram of the series so yeah...he has big twisting horns and from this point, I think CLAY would be the best way to do it. The only thing that SUCKS is the fact that even though it looks cool....Kahuna is like more than 8 feet tall and big and bulky with a tiny head! Munnies have HUGE-ASS heads and these weird bodies so it takes away Kahuna's crushing, muscular huggablness!
But still, it looks like its coming out pretty well nonetheless.
Making the other characters would be a possiblity...if I could do it. I already ebayed for some Dunny figures which means I can finally do Weegii (the hare) and I can easily do Rufus (dog), Gelly (tiger), and Bug (cat) with Trikky. Rye (rat) and Sonny (rooster) can be done with both a Foomi or a Munny and the rest could be done with Munnies as well. But the one character...THE ONE CHARACTER I needed the slug figure for I can't even do anymore! Serpentine, the freaking SNAKE, needed the Rooz figure and it looks like they don't even make it anymore!
Say it with me now...
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-!
Well, there is ebay. Sigh, even though its nice that there is always ebay....its a little sad too. Especially when they jack-up the price with shipping. God, I hate shipping prices.
So for your pleasure...here are the Kahuna pictures. See him in his half-colored glory!
At first I was just going to end it with banning the guy for his behavior but I was convinced by one of his little buddies to try something different; I said I wanted more group interaction so I ASKED the members what they thought of the situation and whether or not it would be right or wrong to ban him for his actions. Thus far, its almost an even scale. I will not tell you what side has been winning but so far, I’m surprised that I’ve gotten ‘yes, ban him’ ‘No, give him a second chance’ but ALSO a lot of middle grounds, thoughts that feel bad for both sides and eventually have given me the final say on the matter.
I will admit this now; I did get angry. I got very angry. Did I go too far, I did, I will admit that but I will also add that my anger from this entire thing just wasn’t something that came about from this one incident. No, I’ve run into this person BEFORE on a lot of occasions in the past and believe it or not, HE was the one that basically inspired me to make the group. In the past, he has gone on other people’s work and told them that they were ‘wrong’ for drawing characters a certain way, as his post explained ‘too dark or Afrian’ (No, that is not a typo on my part. THAT is how he spelled AFRICAN and it wasn’t a single mistake.) and that people who drew any of the characters as people of color were only doing so because it was PC. To back up his claim he brought up things such as people wanting to ban Tom Sawyer in school (what does that have to do with artist wanting to draw black characters again and for their OWN enjoyment?) and also linked me this;
http://thisorthat.com/blog/5-examples-of-political-correctness-gone-too-far
Its so nice to know that even in 2012, there are still people in this world who act as if even seeing more than two or three people of color anywhere in any medium is too much, as if their presence is some sort of distraction or there is no real place for them.
As someone who noted me with their thoughts, he was basically was stating ‘I’m not racist so I’m all for diversity but not if its TOO diverse.’
And this is where the problem lies; what is TOO diverse? How does one be TOO diverse? Its insulting because its basically saying that if there are too many people of color, it becomes a problem because its TOO MUCH. The same argument was said by his friend who more or less went on about;
Some people become frustrated when they are forced to change.
THE CLUB HASN’T BEEN FORCING PEOPLE TO CHANGE.
When I started the club, I wanted to create a safe haven for people who drew humanizations of ANY color; it wasn’t JUST for characters of color, it was for EVERYONE. I haven’t told any of my members to go out and tell artist who drew white humanizations to tell them their wrong or that they should only draw black characters. Hell, I even told them to help me find MORE humanizations since I couldn’t do it on my own and that has only INCREASED the number of submissions but guess what?
FORCING PEOPLE TO CHANGE WAS EXACTLY WHAT THIS GUY WAS DOING.
Opinion can only go so far. Everyone knows that Celestia can’t be black because she is an all powerful deity who is supposed to represent grace and beauty and you can’t do that with dark skin. Zecora is the only Afrian character in the show and as far as I can see Celestia has no zebra in her so she can’t be black. Its canon so its wrong.
You see what he did there? He used CANON as an excuse to harass artist into doing what HE wanted to see. The problem is, in CANON, the characters aren’t even HUMAN. In CANON, there is no clear indication of WHAT an of these characters would be even if they were. In CANON, there is nothing stating from these characters’s actions of what they can or CAN NOT be. Yet this guy has been insistant from the start that HIS views are right and everyone else is wrong.
So its no longer a matter of him having an opinion. He has been stating his words as RIGHT and trying to use that to tell the club and other artist that they are wrong, all the while pushing racist rhetorict as a way to defend himself. He stated that black skin isn’t graceful or beautiful and expected memebers, many of them who are black women themselves (myself included) NOT to take offense to that. He stated that her location, mannerisms, and voice also didn’t fit black skin and still expected people to see this as ‘correct’. I had lost it by this point and this is where I laid it out on him full throttle. I had already had enough when he was going to other artist to do this shit and I wasn’t going to take it on a club that I founded and made just to get away from stuff like that.
But yes, I did went a bit far and anger is what fueled it. Nonetheless, I still stand by my point and I found his comments to be VERY insulting, VERY hurtful, and against the basic functions of the club. If I were thinking from the very start, I would have put ‘Going out to other artist and harassing them is a bannable offense for the club’ which is something I AM going to put up once all this is over and the results come in.
He has said he ‘doesn’t understand’ or that ‘he can’t get his words out clearly’ but considering that he’s done this before and to other artist, I think its rather clear that he knows EXACTLY what he is doing and EXACTLY what he is saying.
I’m going to quote another person who noted me on the issue;
Agreeing to disagree on racism is not a good thing.
No, its not, especially when the person in question has done this shit multiple times BEFORE with no real clear indication that he has taken anything away from this at all. The first time, when the artist was being very nice and calm to him, should have acted as a warning but the second time should have been a sign to stop. But he didn’t stop; he did it again, and again, and mostly likely AGAIN since he seems to find his way to EVERY picture of a black Celestia or a random picture of a any of the cast as a person of color, especially of African decent. It seems to be the only race he has an issue with though since he asked about Chinese, Greek, or Italian portrayals, all of which have been done on more times than I can actually count but when it comes to African-Americans, there is suddenly a problem and that’s when it becomes ‘too much’, especially if there is more than two or the character is someone as powerful as Celestia.
I have already had people telling me that they are now uncomfortable with what he said and how he potentially will view their artwork (and to an extent, THEMSELVES as women of color) and in my heart, I feel that he SHOULD be banned. That is MY view and my feelings since I feel that his interactions will only hurt a lot more people, especially if he has more access to pictures through the feed. He could have chosen to express himself better or IGNORE the pictures he didn’t like but he didn’t and considering he has repeat actions on this type of thing, I don’t know if this incident will stop his actions and its something I do not want to put my members through. They don’t need any more negativity thrown their way just because of how they portray a character.
But as I said, I want the GROUP to look over what has been said and how they view it. Many of them are pretty made that I even considered allowing him back in but what happens, will happen and we will see. I have just told you my feelings and what has been going on as well as what I have to deal with because of all of this crap. Its a headache, one that I played part in, but a headache nonetheless but it also shows that people still haven’t changed when it comes to how they view other people. He isn’t and won’t be the last one to tell artist that drawing characters as people of color or anything that strays from the DEFAULT is ‘wrong’ but that doesn’t mean I should allow him to be that cruel to other members without letting him know that his statements are not needed and as I said, very hurtful. Next time, it will be worded better but I have to put my foot down sometimes and this is one of those times.
Diversity is magic but that does not mean I’m going to let people walk over ME or the members who only want to draw. If you continue to offend, you WILL be blocked and you can’t use an excuse of ‘LOVE AND TOLERANCE’ when you’re not even showing that yourself and you continue to act hostile even after people say STOP.
Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-77033881509367857232012-02-21T00:24:00.000-08:002012-02-21T00:24:02.503-08:00I'm a fort woman....Second post, different than the first...
A few weeks ago, there was a class and in that class, a fort had to be constructed. How did it go?
Well, if you read my first post about it, you already know I basically stood and helped when I could, moving my body out of the way to ensure I wouldn't get crushed by a tower of chairs. I've thought of a lot of crazy stuff in my life but for some reason, chairs fall on me is something that I DON'T want to happen.,,,but as far as team building goes, the experiences was....
was....
.......
It went WELL. Like I said, I just didn't want to get pummeled by falling chairs.
Now on to the next part!
Focus
The focus of the task was of course trying to create something with the chairs. At first it was going to be a tower but somehow, fort came to mind but then BOTH where somehow created using both the tables and the chairs. I was just waiting for the moment when either formations fell in on themselves and we would all be expelled for 'student endangerment'
No, I'm kidding....but still didn't want to see anything fall over...
Clarification
WHAT clarification?
Okay, I'm not trying to be meeeeeeeeeeeeeeean, but perhaps there was no clarification simply because we were making things up on the fly. Unless we're taking about the simple fact that we had to build something from the chairs and desk, I GUESS that counts as a clarification. The actions that lead to those creations though....well, we all saw what happened.
The mouse
ME. ME ME ME ME ME ME.
The loud-mouth
Well, there were a few who seemed to know more about what they were doing but I can not recall anyone being 'the loud mouth' in that sense
The written record
There were a few times when the idea about stacking chairs DID have to be redone, all for the sake of making sure they didn't fall on anyone....
Feedback (negative)
As far as I can remember, there wasn't that much negativity when the fort and the stack of chairs was being constructed.
Feedback (positive)
Yes, there as plenty of praise...and lots of 'HEY, WOULDN'T IT BE A GREAT IDEA IF WE CLIMBED THIS THING?!' 8D
Handling failure
There were a few doubts about how certain formations would result in the chairs actually standing up correctly but when faced with this, the group would try a different solution to make the plan work.
Handling deadlock
A common ground was made when everyone finally figured out how to stack the chairs TO PREVENT THEM FROM FALLI....you get the point.
Sign posting
I guess the delightful cheers of everyone once the project was finished counts as this.
Avoid single solutions
And YES, this is OBVIOUS. Some of the original ideas for the chair stack as well as the fort would have never had worked, mostly due how the objects themselves were either too heavy or their shape prevented us from doing what we originally planned with them. I keep mentioning the chairs, mainly because of the way they are built. Though you CAN stack many atop each other, once you hit a certain number, this no longer becomes possible. After a number of perhaps five or six is reached, the chairs actually begin to face FORWARD a bit and the more they are stacked, the more and more then lean out which forces the weight to the front and without any bottom support to carry this weight, BOOM. CRASH. Down it comes.
How did we fix this?
By creating another tower of chairs that was of equal height to support the other so they would actually stand correctly. In the end, THIS solution was the one that worked.
Active communication
Well, we were pretty excited to get the chairs up but I think everyone was more excited to get the task completed....SO WE COULD BASK IN THE GLORY OF OUR CREATIONS! MWAHAHAH!
Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-71288957402552346772012-02-20T22:12:00.000-08:002012-02-20T22:12:03.429-08:00Homework and other crap.I am just going to say this before I start my homework for the night;
FUCK. RACISM.
I know that's a weird thing to say but the reason I am saying it hear and now is because I have just gotten away from two of the biggest mother fucking assholes I have ever SEEN in my life and a discussion about animated characters. Any of my teachers reading this know the path I am on or the path I am trying to get on; character design, comics, animation, whatever. You know something that really pisses me off? Someone asshole telling me that just because I have a collection of stories that feature people of color, its being too PC and that would be 'frustrating'.
Frustrating?
You want to know what's frustrating? Being told that you can never be pretty because you're skin is too dark. Being told that you can not be creative just because you're black. Being told that no one is interested in your stories because you're black.
And the sad part is, this all had to do with a show that is already on and has no fucking human characters but all of a sudden, to draw them human is to draw them wrong....IF THEY'RE BLACK OR ANY OTHER PERSON OF COLOR THAT IS.
Fuck you. Really, FUCK YOU HARD. I don't care if I'm 'mean' to you; what you said was HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. And you expect me to feel sorry for you? That isn't happening, especially when you consider the skin I'm in, the skin that frustrates everyone, as PC and unnecessary.
This is why I should stop being emo to myself and get my work out. If people are that fucking afraid of seeing black characters than BOOGY BOOGY BOOGY, I'M GONNA SHOVE THEM IN YOUR FACE ASSHOLE and take that shit because I had to take the notion of having so few female characters of color to enjoy for the past 26 years of my life. A few seasons of seeing black character portrayed as human beings isn't going to hurt you and if it does, boo-fucking-hoo, that is your problem you close-minded asshole.
.......................
:|
What was for homework again?
Right...Seeing Sideways...
What I got out of class is that I shouldn't be so hesitant sometimes when it comes to creating things for assignments. I don't know why, but seeing how the class is becoming more used to each other, I do feel the need to share more things but there is always going to be that tiny part of me that will go 'DON'T DO IT! WHAT YOU'RE ABOUT TO SAY SOUNDS STUPID!!'
...
I should get rid of that voice.
If there is anything else that can be said, at least I know I can't get any weirder than the instructor! I'm in the clear! 8DWalleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-14217567769255116752012-02-19T23:14:00.000-08:002012-02-19T23:14:45.708-08:00Tigers Tigers Why TigersReally?
I have to do a blog about TIGERS?
Oh I have created something based on tigers...but that thing based on tigers expands beyond that so perhaps my thing that is based on tigers can be called something based on tigers that is based on something larger. I don't know but for the sake of getting more of my crap seen, I'm going to introduce you to Gelato;
She is part of a group I would like to call...the Rebels.
Yes, that's SO ingenious!
No, that is not the full name of the team but she is a member of it. You see, Gelly belongs to a SPECIAL project of mine that I want to do for my capstone...something I've been working on for some time now but I've had no real idea what to do with it. Despite what her animeish-vomit colors are telling you, yes. SHE IS A TIGER and the Chinese symbol on your left indicates that she is. The theme of the series in which she comes from is based on the Chinese zodiac and as you can guess, there are 13 other DELIGHTFUL characters she is friends with.
Wait...13?
There are 12 animals in the zodiac...how did I come up with 13?
Don't ask, there are more but there is a reason why there is 14-NOW WAIT A MINUET! D8<
Considering that I didn't want Gelato, or any of the other characters, to be based 100% on the personalities linked to them according to the zodiac line, I came up with idea to take SIX of the most common personality types associated with each sign and make them into something more unique to that character. For instance, Lily, the cow of the group, is SUPPOSED to be hot-headed and stubborn according to the zodiac but I turned it around, making her overly cheery and her 'stubbornness' is based more on the fact that she doesn't know that NO means 'FUCK YOU I SAID NO!' when she keeps annoying people to cheer up. So she's stubborn in her NICENESS rather than being an asshole. Gelly....oh god...well, tigers, especially FEMALE tigers are known for their fiery nature, coldness, and their....sex drive.
Yeah, I said that here on a school blog.
Now how do I turn THAT on its head?
Well....I kept all but the second, turning her ice-queen personality she is supposed to have into a POWER. Yes, Gelly's powers are that of controlling ice and snow, so she is a literal ICE-QUEEN.
TIGRESS.
Yeah, this explains the blue colors.
As for the other personality traits, I tweaked them to the point where she sometimes comes off more goofy than anything else; she's not an airhead but she is flighty and can let certain things grab her attention TOO much. Think of her as that one friend who is always touching and hugging you without your permission but you're too nice to tell her no. Also, she's obsessed with styling people's hair and eating meat.
SHE'S AN EXCELLENT ROLE MODEL!
I'm a tiger and I'm glad that I'm not like her. I would probably be horrified to know a person like this in-never mind....
As for the picture itself, seeing as the story is set in New York and there is a large Urban art scene in that area, I created a series of stickers featuring all of the characters in the series. Why does Gelly have two? Well, I actually thought I had lost the first version (the one on the right) so I went about and drew another one, only to find that THAT one was actually in a folder with a bunch of other stickers I thought I had lost. Considering my attachment to these stickers, I will mostly likely never use them but it was a fun project nonetheless to work on....which I am still working on since some of them still need to be inked and colored.
God, I hate getting into a slump in the middle of a project.
The gallery with the rest of the stickers can be found here; http://inkbottleinc.deviantart.com/gallery/31147653
Now on to the next phase of this assignment, what a-do about those 50 questions?
Oh god, I actually am a bit embarrassed about this consider the stickers is just ONE step in the project I want to do for my capstone and I'm still embarrassed about the concept and the idea. Geeze, its not like my capstone is a PORNO. Its a pitch I had for a cartoon series I wanted to do; what's so embarrassing about that?
I don't know but I still feel the pit of 'Oh god, what am I doing?' forming when I even talk to anyone outside my immediate friends about this. FFFFFFFFFFFfuuuuu-!
Forget this, I'm going in! Here are the 50 questions for this tiger and possibly anything else related to it.
Why did I chose to use the read stickers for this instead of the green or blue versions?
Why did I use Chinese characters instead of using English to describe the character in the sticker?
Why can we only see part of her face rather than her entire face any other part of her body?
Why did I put the original in a spot where I knew I would lose it?
If I had lost the entire set, would I have redone those as well instead of just redoing the pieces I had lost?
What if you had used Photoshop to create the original image and the print them out using a printer?
What would have happened if you done this and you ran out of toner while printing?
What if people became interested in this set and wanted to see more?
What if any of the other characters from the story were the tiger instead of Gelly?
What animal would Gelly be if she were not a tiger?
What if I had continued my original story based on Western zodiacs instead of Asian zodiacs? (I say Asian because the tale is actually different depending on what countries you go to. In Japan, the story is a little different and in other places, the animals are different such as the rabbit being a cat and the pig being an elephant)
What if I changed the design of Gelly...AGAIN?
What if Gelly was just a normal orange tiger instead of a Siberian tiger?
What if people got offended by Gelly because of the way she behaves?
What if Gelly becomes liked for reasons I DON'T like. :|
What if I'm asked to try this sticker project again?
What if I actually had the nerve to sneak out and post these things around the city?
What if these things actually became well known around urban and street art?
What if I introduced more tigers into the story?
What if I could actually make up my mind about Gelly's backstory and insert more circus things for her like I promised I would when I was reworking the entire idea?
What if I can't think of anything else?
What if I can't use the whole 'circus tiger' thing with Gelly?
What if Gelly was from a Las Vegas show instead of a circus tiger in Italy as she is in the story?
What if I actually get to go to Italy?
What if I discovered that cirucses are not as popular as I thought in that area?
What if I wanted to name Gelly something that is not based on a tasty Italian ice-cream that I wish I was eating right now?
What if I could use the name Gelato for some unknown copyright reason?
What if I could stop scaring myself when I attempt to draw any of these stupid characters and finally do full character sheets like I wanted to.
What if some of the other teachers saw them?
What if my friends and family saw them?
What if I stop my obsession with trying so hard to get things so perfect in this story it winds up making me exhausted in the process?
What if this show actually gets green-lit?
What if this show airs and I can get away with more?
What if I don't the final outcome?
What if I started drawing Gelly and the others more realistically?
What if I stop being interested in tigers?
What if I changed Gelly into a boy?
What if I completely threw out most of the animal elements in the series.
What if I do more with tigers in the show?
What if I just chose the animals at random?
What if the tiger is not part of the random choice?
What if people start to ask me how the hell a tiger can be Italian when they are native to ASIA? (Gelly: Well, my great-great-great-GRANDFATHER who was the first tiger of the circus was from central RUSSIA but we all moved down here when the circus relocated and now-!)
What if I decided to change her tiger species considering there is more than just one type than just TIGER. Plain, vanilla, TIGER.
What if no one got the joke that her hair is SUPPOSED to look like swirls from a soft-serve icecream machine?
What if everyone notices the jokes I was making about how tiger people are supposed to act according to the Chinese zodiac?
What if they don't?
What if I want to do more with her in art?
What if took a picture of an actual tiger and Photoshopped it so it looked blue like she's supposed to be?
What if Gelly's entire backstory wasn't as happy as I am making it now?
What if Gelly had no love interest at all in the series?
And for a final point!
51. What if all my questions actually made SENSE?
So there ya go...50 questions all based around a stupid tiger I have from a stupid story I am working on from a stupid idea that I made in the form of some STUPID stickers.
Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-49359022576038849882012-02-13T22:18:00.000-08:002012-02-13T22:18:46.854-08:00Missed Class on ThursdayI am the proud owner of my first porciline filling since dentist are apparently no longer supposed to use metal?
*looks in mouth*'
Ah forget it. I just need to take care of the one that was broken....
Now for today's assignment! Group dynamics is the name of the game but with all the examples I have to my disposal, how can I narrow down FIVE interesting things I could find about the concept? Well, after scrapping my tired and mostly insane brain, I was able to come up with five things I managed to pick up;
1. The Bruce Tuckman stages of team development- For one thing, I was surprised that someone would really evaluate how teams form and build around each other this closely. Granted, it is important but then again, I'm not the type of person who could hold my attention span towards something like this (or could I? I always down myself like this...) I like how things always start out in such a mess when a group comes together; its so true in so many cases so it makes a hell of a lot of sense. What kinda gets me is the simple fact of this; I've been focusing most of my brain cells writing a comic/wannabe series based on something like this...and the answers just slapped me in the face. What the hell? I've been worrying for the past year and a half about how to ensure that my characters, as a group, come together in a non-cliched or forced way...and I read this and then a minuet later BAM, it hits me. Gee, now all those 27 intro stories that I wrote can flow a lot better now that I know how to connect them and how to fucking establish a group and their team work together. Why the hell did I not find this sooner?
2. Group size and diversity DOES matter!- I don't know but this one feels more like an 'I TOLD YOU SO!!' feeling on my part since there are times when yes, I do feel this important. The site that featured the article (http://wilderdom.com/group/GroupSize.html) basically had my thoughts summed up; there is such a thing as too small....but also TOO BIG. One thing that happens when people find themselves CROWED amoungts a group of many is that they get lost and its really easy to do so. This can lead what I called the 'drowning effect'; you feel like you're drowning in a sea of activity and it feels like there is nothing you can do to get help or even have your voice heard. On the opposite end, when a group is too small, depending on the project of course, it hinders the ability for the group to try new things. The best thing about having a group of many is that you often end up with MANY views, views that you can all share. Again, it depends on the activity; small groups do work but it does seem to fit in best when you're handling small task (take the kite activity which could have worked with two or three people which is a small number) but when you're doing things like, say, PLANNING A SUPER BOWL (dohohoho, aren't I clever) you need many in the group....
But you want what's ironic? Those many sometimes get split into SMALLER groups which means that you start off with something LARGE but then break it down into something small to get the job done. So in this case, large works because its then turned into something small but not too small to lack any sort of rotating thought and not too large to allow people to get lost.
Wrap your head around that logic for a moment.
3. Risky business is thwarted by groups?- I never knew that? Hell, when most of us in highschool were put in groups, we DID risky business....maybe the business was just LESS risky compared to what it could have been like if we were on our own? I don't know but perhaps there is more points to this than I am giving credit to, especially if there is a good leader on board.
....Then again.....*thinks back to high school*
Buddy: Shall I do the 'I'm stepping on someone's grave dance?' 8D
Me: *face palm*
And that was a group....but then again....we were at Crown Hill....on an assignment....to learn things I can not remember.
God, my high-school was weird.
4. The group support group (brought to you in part by The Department of Redundancy Department)- Another obvious fact but one that bears repeating; yes, working in groups can help people out socially since it introduces people to others and allows them to work together in order to solve tasks and other problems. It sounds simple enough but I will give you another hint; this doesn't always sit well with others!
HINT HINT ME
I guess for some people, its not the WORK that scares them but the interaction with other people. I basically said my beef with groups in my past entries but I will spare you the entire details and give you this little piece of history that basically sums up why I hate working in groups; past experience was shit. Just shit. Shit kids, shit activity, even now at 25 I'm still bitter and a good time warp would involve me chasing some bad-ass kids around with a phone book. THANKFULLY HOWEVER, working with mature adults has shown me otherwise and I no longer have the same hatred for group work as I did in the past...
Well, SOMETIMES but that is a tale I will not repeat on this site only because....it happened here at the school...but about two years ago thankfully.
5. There are different types of teams?! I NEVER KNEW!- I know this has nothing to do with groups per say but its bears some repeating only because it sounds interesting to say the least. Yes, there are indeed various types of teams...there isn't just one thing called a, ya know, TEAMS. Depending on the situation and the way the members are communicating with each other, a teams can be labeled any sort of way. For instance, we have the formal and informal teams; the teams where you're just thrown together on the fly without any sort of thought going into whether or not you want to claw the eyes out of the person you've been put with. You know! THAT type of team! 8D We also have the problem solving team; this team is put together to figure out complex problems or situations that whatever group/company they are working for is facing. Perhaps this is the one where most of the stress comes from. I mean, its not like an entire company is riding and HOPING for ideas to come from these guys to ensure that nothing negative happens, in particular the falling out of a company and....oh wait.
And those are my five things I've learned about group dynamics, with a bit of team building tossed into the mix for some seasoning. I'm still a little scatter-brained about the first one only because now I'm becoming preoccupied with my sudden discovery about what I want to do for my Capstone...all because I looked at some list about they dynamimcs of groups. Urgh, IWalleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-34384619022020222592012-02-08T18:43:00.000-08:002012-02-08T18:43:31.335-08:00KITE KITE! WATCH MY FLYING KITE!So yes....we flew kites.
I'm pretty sure most of you are wondering why I haven't said anything totally off the wall yet but to be honest, I can't say anything random because it was just FUN.
Yes, I HAD FUN.
It was COLD but it was FUN!
The kite project was of course something simple; the class was split into pairs and were required to come up with a kite design that DIDN'T crash and burn to the ground like a flaming lead balloon. Thankfully, my partner and I were able to come up with something quick and easy and the result?
It...FLEW.
IT FLEW?!
ITS A MOTHER FUCKING MODERN DAY MIRICAL CREATION! *faints*
Yes our sled-kite, which had to be down-sized due since we didn't have enough wrapping paper (I SHOULD have brought in the roll I had bought but I was thinking 'Nah, I'm sure my partner will have the perfect paper. I don't want to look stupid and bring in this roll of strawberry print crap!', actually FLEW and it was WONDERFUL.
But still, very cold.
I hates teh coldz. :|
Urgh, at least THAT was nice. The next thing I have to get prepared for is my final dental follow up. Say it with me people; PLEASE GUM-LINE! HEAL! HEAL! HEAAAAAAL! Don't turn into a PIT in my mouth and please random filling that I swallowed like nine years ago, don't prove to be a breeding ground to something else.
Fuck, at least I have the money to do this now. I'd rather have everything done NOW than wait, and wait, and WAIT while suffering through painful agony just because the only appointments I could make were on days I have class. I know I used up my three strikes ALREADY but at least now, I can actually SIT in class and not worry about my head fucking hurting and being miserable until Spring break were I would only have a WEEK to get everything done. MOVE THIS SHIT OUT OF THE WAY.
But back to kites....yes....I have SO many instructions on how to make kites now and to tell you the truth....I don't think I'll EVER buy a store bought kite again. Yeah, I know that sounds weird but why do it? Why PAY for some crappy kite when you know you can make one yourself? I have the instructions, I have the curiosity, and I have the sudden want to draw some designs on kites.
Yeah! Yeah! I should totally makes some kites for spring or something!Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-65810305573620229872012-02-05T23:37:00.000-08:002012-02-05T23:37:22.243-08:00After the bowl and other good thingsSo many classes to worry about right now and other crap...but still I must go on because I WANT to go on and I WANT to succeed...
But in truth I feel a little crappy because it feels like the TEACHER is the only person reading this crap. Am I not witty enough for the rest of you?! D8
I need to get back on track....and now for the assignment.
Why?
The fact that I have so many books crammed into this tiny bedroom of mine. I commute and I have...ISSUE with how my books are stored, where they are stored and how they are kept. I have to have all my books NEAR me so I can access them not only when I need reference to look up but to entertain myself when I get bored and I want to look at things. I am such a lazy git and worried about water damage that I refuse to have any of my books in the basement. In the summer and on wet days, moister SEEPS into the place and you can FEEL it. I can't even draw downstairs because it fucks up the paper so do you think I want to keep any of my books down there?
I found one of the biggest, REDDEST books I have; CHINA. No really, THAT'S the name of it...just CHINA. It has this fakie velvet texture so it basically shines and glows under the light which is something impressive. Also impressive? The price.
The paper is very slick and cool to the touch. Despite being almost a year old, the book still has that new print smell to it which I enjoy.
What does the cover feel like?
The cover has a velvety feel to it considering that both its front and back are covered with some sort of material. I have no idea what the EXACT material is but it gives the entire book a silk look and texture which plays well into the fact that the book IS about China. Of course, this ISN'T silk (if it were, I'm sure it wouldn't have cost 3 bucks...) and after feeling it for a while, its not a material I would want to wear as clothing. XD
Nope, like most ink-jet prints, the type is perfectly printed on the paper so it leave no texture or feeling.
NO. NO I WON'T.
The cover is one of the most interesting designs I have seen. Besides having a silk-like exterior, the portion of the cover (both on the front and the back) that shows in detail some of the people and culture is actually placed lower on the cover, as if the picture is layered BELOW the portions where the title and other text is placed. Its hard to explain and hard to see in the pictures I have but if I brought the book in and people were able to see and feel the book was designed, they could see what I am talking about.
STOP TURNING THE MONITOR THAT WAY AND LISTEN! D8<
Class was once again...something. We were given the task of coming up for the task of another group but being as random as it was (which is not unusually for this class) I had no idea what the fuck was going on or what to really contribute. In the end, I just laughed with everyone else as we were figuring out ways to more or less troll the group before us. The results were of course this;
Group 1- You guys have to come up with a list of movie quotes and act them out!
US- Oh yeah, well you have to do it FIRST! >83
And it spiraled out of control from there.
Wow, we suck as organizers.
Aside from the sheer randomness that was once again this class, one thing stood out; FISHBOWLS.
FISHBOWLS!
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?! TELL ME WHAT IT MEANS!
Let's just say that everyone has a fishbowl and while some might consider it a form of entrapment and self-limitation what do you think would happen if the glass were to break...and there was nothing surrounding the fish but air?
Sudden death, right?
....Or a slow, painful one since fish don't exactly die INSTANTLY the moment they touch air.
Whether you get it or not, and I'm not too sure if I get it myself, fishbowls seem to be symbolic and stand for an area in which we find ourselves able to grow and improve. Perhaps its like a comfort and safe-zone where with limited interuptions, we can work in peace...or something like that. I watched the entire presentation and I'm still not sure if I get it or if I wanted to throw my boot at the screen.
Also, fishbowl is the new it word. Say it bitches. SAY IT! ITS COOLZWalleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-65175576244267268442012-01-23T22:20:00.000-08:002012-01-23T22:20:44.949-08:00To Compete...or not to compete....I wasn't in class on Thursday on account of getting my teeth chipped, pried and pulled from my skull (crossing my fingers that everything is healing well) so I wasn't able to get the legist of the assignment 100% but I'll try my best with the description on Oncourse;
Competition...it something that people are often either want to ignore or something that people always want to bring to the forefront since they find it to be a very important faction of their lives. For the most part, it seems as kids we're always told the same mantra that it doesn't matter how you win or lose, but its how you compete that determines who is the winner...but thinking this, how does the way one compete determine the outcome of certain things?
In our lives, we are always competing, if not for the top spot on something then for something smaller; perhaps to be the first to get that good seat in the theater so you won't be blocked by the asshat who is still wearing his ballcap and blocking your view. In the workforce, people often compete by attempting to be as productive as they can in order to gain a better position. Groups and teams compete against each other for various things but having said all of this, is competition important? Does it play a role in team building?
I would have to give a rather large YES to both but I would also like to add in the notion that while competition is good, one thing we shouldn't do is let it get to our heads. What's that saying; too much of a good thing leads to a bad thing? Think of it like that. Competition in itself is not a bad thing and can be used as a tool to do positive things but when it leads to obsession, people can get clouded and forget the main goal. When this happens, the need and want to win at all cost seems to rear it ugly head and begins to wear away at the notion of simply striving to make yourself BETTER. How can you better yourself when your need and want for competition gets to the points where it becomes destructive and detrimental to not only yourself but those you surround yourself with.
Perhaps this is the egotism that comes into play that makes the entire notion of 'competition' bring bad thoughts into people's heads. Some people want to avoid competition because they might feel its an unfair way of judging someone against another, as if showing off what they can or can't do would somehow be destructive. If competition was being used in a NEGATIVE way, it can be viewed that way but again, that is if the actions in question are being used as a vehicle to just show off, not as something that actually helps people learn, experience, and grow.
Competition in team building isn't a bad thing either, so long as its not used as a melee and turns people against each other. Remember that scene in 'The Dark Knight' where the Joker tells the gang members that there is only room for ONE person on his team and he gives them that broken pool cue as a means of 'deciding' who was going to be on the team; yeah, let's use that as a melee and BAD example of competition.
Of course, if that were being used an any real life example, I'm pretty sure someone would be arrested.
IMMEDIATELY.
Honestly, I find that competition is a good thing but there are two sides of it that seem to get on everyone's nerves;
First there is the Condescending Competition- The type of competition where you're constantly reminded that you shouldn't do your best since that would be unfair to someone else....but that means they also can't do their best since that means they may do better than you so EVERYONE has to perform at a level that the person in charge thinks would be the least offensive....but in the end, it forces everyone to stay at a level below their capability, simply to prevent anyone for feeling bad when in truth, that might not even be an issues, especially if its a situation isn't that bad and everyone isn't going to wail on each other no matter who wins.
Second, there is the Melee Competition- The type of competition where everyone is basically an asshole to each other in order to win. This is seen in rowdy sports events, schools where the teachers don't give a fuck and right now, its happening with me on ebay because I'm trying to win a bid on something I want and I'm sick of finding the same thing for 100 bucks and the only offer that has it for 45 has some ASSHOLE WHO KEEPS GOING UP A DOLLAR NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I BID!
I should keep the ebay stuff out of this.
So in the end, competition is an animal we all must face but it is one that we should not avoid nor be afraid of. The best thing we should do is more or less know how to deal with it when put in a situation where the competition is tough, not simply because of our own abilities, but because of how the situation is put before us whether its because we're forced to stunt ourselves for some reason or because the competition grows unruly because of people care only about getting ahead.
Competition can be such a strange animal.Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-58918103997374440522012-01-23T09:53:00.000-08:002012-01-23T10:18:03.040-08:00Bear in a Jar! Bear in a Jar!
:|
IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO STUPID.
Well, for those of you who are going to be in class later, I'm sure you'll get a better view but for the time being, this is what you'll have to deal with. See, this is why I should have used my ol' HP camera. The photos it takes are WAY better than this even if that thing is nearing 12 years old. Man, I love that thing but its kinda clunky and my laptop doesn't have a port for the card.
Getting back on track, this was my Seeing Sideways assignment. Something stupid and small but it did make use of the bead that Beth gave us! I can only hope that its not as stupid as it seems but only time will tell, eh?
I will updates wit da news once I get everything together and turn this thing in.
How this thing came into being;
Originally, I was going to use my bead as some sort of weird balance thing using ice and string but considering that class is at three, it would have been too late to attempt the trick since...
ice+time+heat+no freezer= FAIL. EPIC FAIL.
So I was scratching my brain for new ideas. As I was sitting in my bed recovering from the pains of having my teeth taken out and looping out from the meds, I was thinking 'Oh shit....snow globes. Those things are so fucking awesome....'
And then it hit me.
SNOW-GLOBE!
But wait, what would the point be? If I just put the bead in a jar of water, that would be...a cop-out. I needed more. Considering I was in too much pain to go out and but specific things, I knew I had to make due with what I had at home and being the pack-rat that I am, I had plenty and an idea came to me.
Something small and cute + bead + glitter= DAW.
The problem was finding something small enough to fit within the jar I found. Most of the figures were the correct height...just not the correct WIDTH. Some thing were too wide which prevented me from screwing the cap on correctly. Running out of ideas, I looked over to my bedside and realized that I had an entire plethora of items to use...
JAPANESE ERASERS!
Yes...I am a nerd.
Looking through my collection, I found the PERFECT figure to go into the globe; a small, chubby hamster who was the right size as well as posed the right way to hold the bead as if it were some sort of magical orb. After gathering up my supplies and my brain which by this time was so loopy I was SHAKING, I began to work.
Adhesive? Check.
Hamster? Check.
Bead? Check.
Jar? Check.
Glitter?
A little too much but CHECK.
And the hamster in the orb was BORN...er, made!
Again, I went a TAD overboard with the glitter but the plus side of that is that it actually TINTED THE WATER which I did not expect it to do. If I had known that was going to happen, I would have opted for the blue glitter which would have given the water a more appropirate tint....but nonetheless, we have ourselves one of the oddest things I have ever made. I sacrificed one of my fave erasers for this but it was worth it.
I hope it was worth it. :PWalleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-63205064161992637482012-01-16T22:00:00.000-08:002012-01-16T22:17:08.573-08:00Working with Table and Chairs...because I forgot.I'm too lazy to make an edit? Shame on me.
How did the team building work for last week? Well, let's just say that I really hope I don't get maimed in the course of the class considering the 'building' we had to do.
I had no idea what to do. Spontantous things, at least when working with a large group of people who know what to do while I DON'T, doesn't work for me. Most of the time I was wondering that in the world to do and I felt more like a chicken going around with nothing better to do. I just needed guidance and didn't want to fuck up anything which I feel I often do.
Anyway, with all that gushing out of the way, here were the other things I forgot to mention in my previous post;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

*What is a group?*

A group is a collection of people who may or may not be tasked with completing a job, assignment. I say MAY simply because not all groups are composed souly based on getting 'work' done. A social group might not take part in work.

“Why groups?”

Because as people, we find it easier to think and view people based on what groups we put them in as opposed to viewing a person one-on-one. Yes, there are some UNFORTUNATE IMPLICATIONS that can come from this but from a less negative point of view, a teacher can view her students in a group (if she puts them in groups) to see how they work and how to organize them. In a positive way, a group can be used to see who works together in the best way.

*What is a team?*

A collection of people who have been grouped together in a way that plays to their strengths and must work together in order to achieve their goals. There are no random choices or groupings in team since they have to work in a way to ensure that everything functions correctly.
*What is the difference between a team and a group?*

A group might be;
*made up on the fly and consist of people who do not know each other.
*composed of people who despite being put together have greatly opposing views

A team might be;
*made up of individuals who are often going for the same goal
*made up of people who share similar views and talents
*made up of people who at the time MUST work together to ensure they succeed

I hate scrapping my brain for things I'm not sure of. *head desk*

Ow....my face hurts.

Now for those who I would work well with~~

I....I do not know and I hate doing things like this because I find it kind of invasive. Oh yeah, the chick who writes 'OH GOD THIS SHIT SUCKS! #$UTHJEITH' all of her blog doesn't like to pick people out?

Well, no. I DON'T, especially when reading the blogs I can't get a reading on ANYONE. Its like asking someone to tell you the taste of something based on looking at the PICTURE of the food instead of actually eating it; I have to actually work with these people to finally make up my mind on who I feel comfortable working with.

And 'sides, it doesn't seem like anyone wants to work with me anyway. Gee, I wonder WHY? :P
Walleyed Squidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09575587098345007492noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750751957962246637.post-75881342353782248022012-01-16T21:35:00.001-08:002012-01-16T21:35:43.565-08:00The best and the worst? Do I really have to relive this?Now that I got the tale of my teeth out of the way...on to the REAL assignment.

OUCH.

For those that know me well enough, I...don't particularly like group activities. Not that I have anything against working with groups but from my past experiences, I equate group work to people wanting me (us...the group) to act like god-damn circus chimps for stupid shit. Granted, I found that my best group work came from those that had ideas that were not based on evaluating people as if they were lab rats but stuff that really accomplished things.

So to say, I have a lot of bad group experience, from working with people who, if I were to time travel to the past would probably falcon punch in the face for being rude little gits to organizers who were, to put it frank, snobbish butt-holes who seemed to enjoy watching us lesser children from dA PubLiK SkooLZ do their shit and act like it was for charity...

But having said that, there have been some good group work that I have done...but the bad still out-weighs the good. :|

Okay, okay, I'll stop being such a downer but in order to do that, I WILL have to start with the bad first, only to end this post with something upbeat and truthfully, it IS upbeat if not surprisingly simple for what it is.

Okay, the bad and since I really don't like to dive too deep in the past, I will start with something recent and does not involve people from this school who will hunt me down if they find this post;

In June, I was desperate for work which is something that I always am. Because I can't drive (I suffer from seizures. Yeah FUCKING heredity, you screwed me over again) I wanted something that was close enough to commute using Indygo. Since I often frequent our local malls, I decided to apply for nearly all the stores that were there. Now, there are FOUR malls I walked the halls of (no naming) and they all have plenty of outlets and opening to go for....now tell me, why the FUCK did only ONE place in ONE mall reply?

I don't know but I took the offer at the drop of a hat and by that Sunday, I was ready for the interview. Now, as a person who has gone to countless 'Teen management career sessions' (another fucking waste of time and another source of bad group experiences) I have had the notion that in order to get the job, you have to look IMMACULATE. That is what they taught us...but there I was, the only person dressed in business attire while everyone else was dressed in beat-up sandles, tees, ripped jeans and the works...

I could foresee that this wasn't going to end well.

Well, the 'interviews' were all group based, with us standing in the store and talking with the manager of the store....but then....the group work began.

Now, this is a RETAIL STORE. They sell clothing, equipment, and other things. In that line of work, when the FUCK will you need to get into a group and come up with shitty songs based on what the group name is? WHEN? NEVER. Here I am, plopped in this group and forced to come up with lyrics on the fly just because I want a fucking job so I can get some fucking money to pay for utilities and other shit and FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!

Okay, I'm sorry. I just remembered how crap this group experience was and it wasn't because of the people I was paired up with; they were great...even that guy who's number I should have asked for...but nonetheless, the entire ordeal itself was DEGRADING. I have had group interviews for jobs in the past but even those were MUCH more professional and even when I didn't get the job, I didn't feel bad since I was like 'Oh, damn. That sucks but at least they were nice and told me about the company.'

THIS....shit was the absolute WORST and embarrassing situation I had EVER been in. It doesn't help that I don't like to be around people unless its NECESSARY (you know, for like SCHOOL and JOBS which are important.) but to have to act like a total ASS in front of people I don't even know, IN HEELS, was the worst. Making up lyrics, coming up with other shit....and I still didn't get the fucking job?

FUCK YOU STORE THAT WILL REMAIN NAMELESS EVEN THOUGH I STILL GO TO THE ONE IN THE OTHER LOCATION BECAUSE THEY'RE ACTUALLY WELL MANAGED.

There are a lot of other bad experiences in my life concerning GROUPS but this by far was the worst, simply because unlike those OTHER experiences, I didn't get anything good out of this. In those other experiences, they might have been BAD but I either learned something, conversed with people and came out feeling god despite what happened. THIS was nothing but shit. I know I am swearing a LOT for an assignment blog but sorry, I have to to fully express how humiliating that experience was. Fuck, I'm getting PISSED RIGHT THE FUCK NOW reliving it since it wasn't even that long ago!

Hiring methods like that should be a CRIME; it really should be. Anyone who thinks that sort of method for hiring works should be smacked upside the head with a book. They should...HAVE THEIR BACK TEETH CHIPPED LIKE MINE SO THEY CAN-!

I need to stop.

Okay...the bad time is over. I have to move into my happy place now. Happy place! Calmness...calm...

Okay.

NOW FOR THE GOOD.

Like I said, my bad...outweighs the good but there have been some GOOD group experiences I've had. Out of random and sheer hilarity, we're going to take a trip many many years ago back when I was a wee high-schooler and not as much of a shrill, violent, nut that I am now.

This actually took place over a span of several hours and was the result of bad planning on the school part but it all came down....like THIS;

The sophomores were scheduled to take a class trip to the IRT for one of our weekly plays but unfortunetly, bad planning meant that we had come on the wrong day. Now, rather than have the ENTIRE class return to school, our teachers were like 'Fuck this. We're not going back to school!' and decided to have us remain down town for the rest of the day. Of course, we were like 'Oh hell no! Its hot, we don't want to walk on this concrete, we want to go back to class!' but in the end, the teachers (of course) won out and we were given another assigment and another trip.

So we were put into groups and assigned to look up things down at the museum at the Soilders and Sailors Monument. A'course, I had never been in the place before. Hell, I've been here all my life and I didn't know there was a fucking museum there until that moment. What made this group experience fun was the fact that we made the best of the situation that we were given. It was apparent that we didn't want to do the assignment but we also didn't want to get yelled at by our teachers for NOT doing it correctly.

So what do a bunch of your highschool students do with an assignment they must do but don't want to?

Why, do it our way of course!

We were instructed to look at certain parts of the museum which we did....all the while a friend of mine kept reminding us that thanks to the layout of the building, we were basically stepping on the 'graves' of war dead.

Friend: Hey, Meredith! You're stepping on that guy's grave! Stop being so inconsiderate!

Me: I am NOT! Now shut up so we can get this stuff done!

Friend: *singing* I'm stepping on someone's grave, someone's grave, someone's grave! *repeat*

Me: :(

And this went on and on and on....but guess what?

We got the assignment done.....AND WE GOT AN A.

HELL YEAHZ!

There were a lot of other things that happened, such as us watching a movie and doing our own MST3K riffing on it, me buying postcards and the rest of the group writing our own fake letters on the back but all in all, we were able to work together with something we did not like yet we still passed. If that is not a good example of a group project, I don't know.

Well, wait...I do know....doing the same thing and getting MONEY for our effort....but this was school, not work so that didn't count back then. And did I not say it was simple? It was a SCHOOL assignment yet it turned into one of the funniest things that had happened all year as well as being a group project.

So what have we learned from all of this?

1- Group projects can either suck or be funny.
2- Sometimes we shouldn't expect the worst from group projects....even though it might turn out bad anyway.
<strike>3- When in doubt start singing about dancing on a fake grave.</strike>
<strike>
</strike>
I think the moral of these tales have been told. Here's hoping that any other group project will be more like the latter and not of the former.
Oh wait, that's not good for my teeth.
Having TWO broken teeth.

*Sigh* All I can say is that this weekend has been a nightmare but I should be thankful for what injuries I have, I am not in as much pain as I SHOULD be. Fascinating isn't it? If my situation with the my teeth were not bad enough, so is finding a place where I can have them extracted. Problem is, I found a place but now situations at home will probably delay that appointment to find something that is more 'affordable' or in my case, an office that will actually do the job as appointed and not have me come in, wait a week, and THEN have my teeth repaired. This has been one major headache, no pun intended, but I hope to get this fixed by the end of the week simply because I really do refuse to wait any longer; not for the dentist and not for my mother who is also giving me a headache about waiting or then making me change crap just AFTER I had them scheduled. I might have to postpone an appointment again because of this crap which doesn't help considering I'm really sick of getting yelled at, making an appointment like I was supposed to, then being told to cancel it AFTER I made the appointment and then getting yelled at for getting annoyed for having to call people back four or five times just because someone else is getting frantic.

The teeth are in my head, I have to pay with MY money and I have to sit in the chair and deal with the pain. I think I at least have SOME word in this, especially since I had found the perfect day that didn't interfere with school THAT much....but oh no, I have to call again and again and again either because the first place was too expensive or the other place was too far or the other place was too weird or because there might be a blizzard on that day or...

.....

I think having the teeth pulled will be less painful than scheduling the appointment. :|

I just want this all done and taken care of for the sake of getting the teeth out, my mouth finally free of any annoyances and just to get everyone to SHUT. UP. Its bad enough we couldn't get things fixed on the DAY OF, but when I can't even make a decent appointment based on stupid shit, I might as well take them out myself.
